Cayla has worked for Brazoria County since December 2008, beginning her career in public service working in the Tax Office. In October, 2011, she was offered a position in the District Clerk’s Office, first, serving the attorneys and public of Brazoria County as a clerk at the Intake counter where she learned about family and civil cases. Next, she transitioned to criminal clerk of the 239th District Court, where she handled felony criminal cases during their pendency. In 2015, Cayla was promoted to a supervisory role and in 2019 was again promoted, this time to serve as Chief Deputy.
In this past decade, she has acquired a vast amount of knowledge and experience, learning first-hand everything from assisting the public with navigating the District Clerk’s Office to personnel management and difficult administrative duties. As the Chief Deputy, Cayla is entrusted to all duties of the office now when the District Clerk is not available. Cayla believes she is well qualified for the job of District Clerk and hopes to bring exciting new possibilities to the clerk's office, if elected. She is the only candidate with on-the-job experience in the District Clerk's Office.
